Oklahoma fan body slams LSU staffer in stadium fight

Chaos Erupts in Stands Before Kick-Off

A supporter of the Oklahoma Sooners is confronting significant online criticism after footage circulated showing him fighting with and body slamming a member of the LSU Tigers staff. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at the Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, just as players from both teams were warming up for the highly anticipated match.

How the Altercation Unfolded

The chaotic scenes began when a game ball was kicked into the stands during pre-game warm-ups. The Sooners fan retrieved the ball but refused to return it to the LSU staffers who approached him to retrieve it. Videos from the scene show the fan quickly growing agitated, leading to a physical scuffle with the two staff members.

As the LSU staffers persisted in their attempts to get the ball back, the situation escalated dramatically. The fan was seen picking up one of the staffers and slamming him onto the floor in a shocking body slam move. Spectators seated nearby reacted with shouts of 'Hey' in an effort to stop the violence, while another Oklahoma supporter stepped in to try and calm the aggressive fan.

Police Intervention and Aftermath

Thankfully, police officers were quick to arrive on the scene and successfully de-escalated the situation. They were later seen talking to the fan involved in the altercation and escorting him away. In a moment captured on video, the fan asked the officers, 'Am I okay to go back to my seat?'

The LSU staffer who was body slammed managed to get back to his feet shortly after the incident. The fan, still frustrated, eventually threw the ball deeper into the stands before continuing to antagonise the staff. The University of Oklahoma has been contacted for comment regarding the incident.

Despite the tense start, the game proceeded, with the Oklahoma Sooners securing a dramatic 17-13 victory over the LSU Tigers. Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer delivered a standout performance, completing 23 of 38 attempted passes for 318 yards, which included two touchdowns and three interceptions.
