Family Drama Overshadows Vanderbilt Quarterback's Triumphant Victory
While quarterback Diego Pavia was orchestrating a commanding 45-24 victory for Vanderbilt against the Volunteers on Saturday, his family was embroiled in a chaotic scene in the stadium stands, culminating in his brother's arrest.
The Commodores' signal-caller delivered a standout performance on the field, but the day's celebrations were severely marred by the off-field incident involving his relatives.
Chaos Erupts in the Stands
Footage from inside the stadium captured the moment the situation escalated, showing Pavia's family members in a heated argument with security and police officials. The confrontation reportedly began after the family was instructed not to lean over the front row of the stands.
In one particularly bold clip, Pavia's brothers could be seen confronting the officials, with one stating, 'The SEC has the same rules everywhere, it should be no different.' The confrontation escalated with a boastful claim: 'We're about to take over this state, you'll find out.'
Brother Arrested for Public Intoxication
Despite their brother's success on the gridiron, the family's bravado backfired spectacularly. Javier Pavia, Diego's brother, was subsequently arrested. He was pictured being escorted from the stadium by law enforcement and later detained outside a Knox County Sheriff van.
Authorities confirmed that the arrest was for public intoxication. The incident, which was widely shared on social media platform X, added an unwelcome and dramatic postscript to Vanderbilt's win.
The Daily Mail has contacted both the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department and the Knox County Sheriff for further official comment on the matter.
