The defeat came against a relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest side, who are now on a brilliant winning run under Vitor Pereira, moving them closer to safety.

Awoniyi Brace Seals Victory

A Taiwo Awoniyi brace either side of an Igor Thiago penalty put Forest in control, before Joao Pedro scored a late consolation goal for Chelsea, ending their nine-and-a-half-hour scoring drought. The match also saw Cole Palmer have a penalty saved by Forest keeper Matz Sels and Jesse Derry taken to hospital after a clash of heads with Forest's Zach Abbott.
