A Greggs customer was left astonished after purchasing a Mexican Chicken Flatbread, only to find what he described as a pathetic amount of chicken inside. Taking to Reddit, he shared a photo of his lunch and vented his frustration. '24g of protein my a**e by the way,' he wrote. 'This might be the worst one I’ve ever received. Fire the sandwich maker.' The image showed an open flatbread with a generous amount of lettuce, a handful of mixed peppers, and just a few pieces of marinated chicken.
Adding irony to the situation, the customer revealed he is actually a Greggs employee himself. 'I have a staff discount so luckily it didn’t cripple me (not bought at my own shop),' he added.
What Should Have Been Inside
Another Greggs fan responded, detailing the proper contents: 'There should be: five pieces of chicken - look at the piece highest on the sandwich and imagine 5 of those. One small scoop of spicy mayo on one side, and one small scoop of chilli jam on the other side - measured correctly you would see an amount of sauce big enough for it to ooze out of the flatbread and three pieces of pepper - each the size of the yellow one.'
Reactions from Reddit Users
Many Reddit users found humor in the situation. One quipped, 'My school used to do these from time to time and even they put more chicken than that.' Another mused, 'I find local bakeries do best for sandwich fillings plus their stuff tastes better. Also price wise a lot of the time they’re so much cheaper and leave you fuller for longer.' A third described the flatbread as 'a bowl of sadness and depression... made with all the love and care a Greggs sandwich maker can put in it.'
Some suggested it might have been an honest mistake. 'Take it back to the shop, could have been an honest mistake by the sandwich maker,' one user wrote. Another pointed out, 'It's a lot closer to 24 grams of protein than you think. The bread part isn't insignificant. To be clear a standard meat sandwich would be around this value. It's not pretty looking at it opened up, but neither would a sandwich either.'
The customer remained unimpressed, fuming: 'Regardless of whether or not this sandwich has 24g of protein, the filling quantity is just a bit pathetic.'
