Chelsea's dismal second half to the season reached new depths as they suffered six consecutive league defeats for the first time in over three decades. The 3-1 home loss to a second-string Nottingham Forest side marked their sixth straight Premier League defeat, a feat not seen since November 1993.
However, the Blues avoided going six games without scoring for the first time in club history thanks to Joao Pedro's stoppage-time bicycle kick. Taiwo Awoniyi opened the scoring inside two minutes, followed by Igor Jesus's penalty after Malo Gusto's shirt-pull. Awoniyi added a third in the 52nd minute from Gibbs-White's cross.
Pedro thought he had pulled one back, but VAR ruled him offside. He redeemed himself with a superb injury-time goal, chesting Marc Cucurella's cross and volleying a bicycle kick into the net, ending a nine-and-a-half-hour goalless run. The managerless Blues, overseen by interim Calum McFarlane after Liam Rosenior's sacking, haven't won since January.
The result leaves Chelsea ninth, 10 points off Champions League places, with Fulham, Everton, Sunderland, and Newcastle within three points. Forest are on a seven-game unbeaten streak and six points clear of relegation.
