Premium Bond Luckiest UK Locations Revealed: Is Your Town a Winner?
Premium Bond Luckiest UK Locations Revealed

Newly released data has pinpointed the luckiest regions in the United Kingdom for landing major Premium Bond windfalls in 2025. The figures reveal a postcode lottery for the coveted six-figure prizes, with certain counties emerging as clear hotspots for success.

The Top Spots for Major Premium Bond Wins

According to exclusive information shared with This is Money, the combined region of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight proved exceptionally fortunate this year. A total of 42 residents from this area scooped the second-highest prize of £100,000. This is particularly notable given that the 777,061 bondholders there represent roughly 3.2% of all NS&I customers.

Following closely behind was Essex, where 37 people won £100,000, and Outer London, which saw 32 such prizes awarded. In total, 943 Premium Bond prizes worth £100,000 were handed out across the country in 2025.

Mapping the £50,000 Prize Winners

The pattern of luck shifts slightly when examining the next tier of prizes. Essex took the crown for the most £50,000 wins, with an impressive 76 people claiming that amount. Hampshire and the Isle of Wight secured second place again with 65 prizes, while Kent followed with 61 winners of £50,000.

The data also shows that the average holding for a winner in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight is £7,753, which is above the national average holding of £5,613 across all Premium Bond investors.

How Premium Bonds Work and Checking for Wins

For the uninitiated, Premium Bonds are a savings product offered by government-backed National Savings & Investments (NS&I). Instead of earning traditional interest, every £1 invested buys a unique bond number that enters a monthly prize draw. The maximum holding is £50,000 per person.

Each month, two lucky holders win the £1 million jackpot – amounting to 24 millionaires annually. In 2025, the top prize was landed twice in Norwich and Cumbria. While the smallest prize is £25, the odds of any single £1 bond winning a prize each month stand at 22,000 to 1.

If you hold Premium Bonds, you should be notified of a win by email or text from NS&I. You can also proactively check using the official NS&I online prize checker tool or the dedicated Premium Bonds prize checker app. Winnings can be paid directly into your bank account or reinvested into more bonds.

With over 24 million people across the UK holding these bonds, the dream of a life-changing win continues to drive the nation's savings habits. Will your town be on next year's luckiest list?
