Emirates Plans World's First Private En-Suite Bathrooms in First Class
Emirates to Introduce Private En-Suite Bathrooms in First Class

Major airline Emirates has announced plans to introduce private en-suite bathrooms on board its aircraft, a world first for commercial aviation. The UAE's national carrier, already renowned for its luxurious interiors and impeccable service, aims to elevate the first-class experience further.

Emirates' Vision for En-Suite Bathrooms

Tim Clark, president of Emirates, revealed the initiative at the 2026 Capa Airline Leader Summit in Berlin. 'I'm working on en-suite bathrooms in first-class suites,' he stated via video. 'I want everyone to hear that so everyone rushes out the door to find out how they can get bathrooms in first-class suites.'

Currently, Emirates offers first-class cabins on its A380 and Boeing 777 jets. While the airline already features luxurious 'shower spas' in first class, the new private en-suite bathrooms will mark a significant upgrade. No other commercial airline currently provides such amenities for all first-class passengers.

Award-Winning Service

Emirates was named Best International Airline in Forbes Travel Guide's second annual Verified Air Travel Awards for the second consecutive year. The airline also won Best International First Class for its Boeing 777-300ER service. Onboard perks include fine dining at any time, an onboard shower spa, and a lounge bar. On Boeing 777s, passengers enjoy a 'private hotel room in the sky' with temperature controls, mood lighting, and soft leather seating. Unlimited caviar paired with Dom Perignon vintage champagne is also available.

Luxury Trends in Aviation

Emirates' announcement follows other luxury upgrades in the industry. Etihad's The Residence features a private lounge, ensuite shower and toilet, and a separate bedroom with a double bed. United Airlines introduced Polaris Studio suites, 25% larger than previous business class seats, with perks like Ossetra caviar and Champagne Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosée. Air New Zealand is also set to offer economy passengers access to bunk beds on certain routes.
