In a major expansion of its online services, discount supermarket giant Aldi has announced that customers can now add alcohol to their grocery orders for same-day home delivery. For the first time, the retailer's exclusive range of award-winning beers, wines and spirits will be available for delivery via the DoorDash platform.
New Convenience for Shoppers in Key States
The new service is initially launching for shoppers aged 18 and over in New South Wales and Victoria. Customers in these states can now order Aldi's liquor range alongside their regular groceries, with delivery promised on the very day they order. This move significantly enhances the convenience of Aldi's online offering, allowing for a more complete shop from the comfort of home.
Simon Padovani-Ginies, Group Director at ALDI Australia, highlighted the strategic expansion. "Whether it's for a celebration, a quiet night in or a last-minute gathering, customers can order their favourite ALDI liquor products direct to their door," he said. "Adding liquor for our NSW and Victorian shoppers and our beloved Special Buys for all Australian shoppers means they can access more of the high-quality, low-priced ALDI products they know and love in a more convenient way."
Award-Winning Range at Aldi Prices
The selection available for delivery includes multiple gold-medal winning products from Aldi's highly regarded liquor aisle. Shoppers can now enjoy:
- Freya & Jules Watervale & Clare Valley Riesling: A three-time gold-winning wine described as light and refreshing with a zesty lime aroma and a crisp finish, perfect with seafood.
- Truly Wildly Heathcote Shiraz: Another gold winner, this vibrant red offers flavours of blueberries and plums with a hint of cool-climate spice.
- La Mule Provence Rosé 2024: A gold medallist rosé with aromas of red fruits and wild strawberries, featuring a fresh, citrusy finish.
- Rivet Lager Beer: A bronze-winning, full-flavoured lager, alongside its mid-strength sibling, Rivet Gold Beer.
- Spirits: Award-winning options like Highland Earl Blended Scotch Whisky, Tamova Quadruple Distilled Vodka and O’Donnells Irish Country Cream.
Special Buys Also Join the Delivery Revolution
In a parallel development, Aldi is also extending its delivery service beyond groceries and alcohol. Starting from Wednesday, January 21, customers across the country will be able to order select Special Buys items for home delivery via DoorDash. This will begin with a curated range of products, including beauty bargains, grilling essentials, bulk buys and tools.
This marks a significant shift, allowing shoppers to snap up those popular, limited-time Special Buys without needing to visit a store. It effectively brings the 'Aldi Finds' experience directly to the customer's doorstep.
Important restrictions apply to the alcohol delivery service. It is only available in NSW and Victoria, and all customers must be aged 18 or over. Aldi Liquor is not available for sale in Queensland or South Australia, and delivery via DoorDash is not available in the Australian Capital Territory and Western Australia. The retailer has also included a reminder for customers to drink responsibly.
