Asda Christmas 2025 Opening Times: Key Hours for Supermarkets and Express Stores
Asda Christmas 2025 Opening Hours Guide

Asda has officially confirmed its revised opening hours for the crucial 2025 festive period, with significant variations planned for its larger supermarkets and smaller Express convenience stores.

It is essential for shoppers to check the specific times for their local branch to ensure they are not caught out by early closures or unexpected shutdowns over Christmas and New Year.

Asda Supermarket Festive Schedule

The majority of Asda's larger supermarkets will welcome customers from between 5am and 7am on Christmas Eve, although this start time is dependent on location. These stores will then close their doors at 7pm, which is earlier than the standard trading hours.

As is traditional, all larger Asda stores will remain closed on Christmas Day. They will reopen on Boxing Day, operating from 9am until 6pm. Following this, standard hours will resume until December 31.

For the New Year period, most major Asda stores are set to open from 7am until 7pm on New Year's Eve. On New Year's Day, hours will be from 9am to 6pm.

Asda Express Convenience Stores

The picture is different for the growing network of Asda Express stores. Most of these smaller outlets, which stock up to 3,000 branded and own-label products including essentials like milk and bread, are scheduled to open as usual on Christmas Eve.

Opening arrangements for Christmas Day itself vary, with some branches closing and others trading normally. The same flexible approach is expected for both Boxing Day and New Year's Eve.

Many Asda Express stores are located on petrol forecourts, as the supermarket has converted hundreds of former Co-op and EG Group sites to its Express brand.

How to Check Your Local Store

To get the exact and definitive opening times for your nearest Asda, shoppers should use the dedicated tool on the Asda website. By simply entering a postcode, customers can access the precise schedule for their local supermarket or Express store, ensuring they can plan their essential festive shopping trips with confidence.

The announcement of festive hours comes after Asda recently revealed that a problematic £1billion IT upgrade had set the business back by an estimated six months. This complex process involved separating over 2,500 legacy IT systems following its acquisition by the Issa brothers and TDR Capital from Walmart, which retains a 10% stake.
