Co-op Festive Opening Hours 2025: Key Times for Christmas and New Year
Co-op Christmas & New Year 2025 Opening Hours

Shoppers across the United Kingdom can now finalise their festive plans as the Co-operative Group has released its official store opening schedule for the crucial Christmas and New Year period.

Confirmed Festive Schedule for Co-op Stores

The retail giant, which operates a vast network of convenience and larger food stores nationwide, has outlined specific trading times to help customers prepare. The schedule is part of the retailer's commitment to serving communities, facilitated through initiatives like its Levy Share scheme.

On Christmas Eve, most stores will operate until 7pm. However, the chain's many convenience outlets, which typically open at 6am or 7am, will extend their service until 8pm for last-minute essentials.

As expected, all Co-op shops will be closed on Christmas Day, giving staff time to celebrate with their families.

Post-Christmas and New Year Trading

The retail activity resumes on Boxing Day. Standard Co-op stores will welcome customers from 10am until 7pm, while convenience branches will open an hour earlier at 9am, also closing at 7pm.

For New Year's Eve, the pattern mirrors Christmas Eve. Usual opening times apply initially, with most stores shutting at 7pm. Once again, convenience stores will offer extended hours, opening from 6am or 7am and trading until 8pm.

On New Year's Day, standard stores will have reduced hours, opening from 10am to 7pm. Convenience stores will be open from 9am through to 8pm, providing a longer window for shoppers stocking up after the celebrations.

Planning Your Essential Shopping

These adjusted hours are critical for consumers managing busy festive schedules. The Co-op's announcement allows households to plan their shopping for groceries, festive treats, and daily necessities around the limited trading days.

With many high street banks and other services also operating reduced hours over the holiday season, the Co-op's extensive network plays a vital role in keeping communities supplied. Customers are advised to check for any local variations, but this schedule provides the reliable national framework for the end of 2025.
