Home Bargains Christmas 2025: UK Store Closures for Boxing Day & New Year's Day
Home Bargains Christmas 2025 Store Closures Announced

Popular discount retailer Home Bargains has issued a significant festive update for customers across the United Kingdom, confirming extended Christmas closures for all of its stores.

Festive Closure Dates for Shoppers

The company announced via an Instagram post that every one of its over 600 UK outlets will be shut on both Boxing Day, Friday 26 December, and New Year's Day, Thursday 1 January 2025. This is in addition to the standard closure on Christmas Day itself.

Furthermore, stores will close earlier than usual on Christmas Eve, Wednesday 24 December, at 5pm to allow staff extra time to prepare for the holidays. The decision, initially revealed at the firm's annual conference in September, is designed to give colleagues a well-deserved break.

A "Thank You" to Hard-Working Staff

In its social media message, titled "CHRISTMAS REMINDER", the retailer expressed gratitude to its workforce. "We would like to thank all our colleagues for how hard you have worked this past year, and want you to relax and enjoy the Christmas break with your loved ones," the post stated, signed off with "Love from team HB".

A spokesperson for the Liverpool-headquartered business, TJ Morris Ltd, elaborated on the family-run firm's ethos. "Our colleagues work incredibly hard throughout the year, and we want to recognise that commitment," they said. "As a family-run business, we understand the importance of spending time with family and friends, particularly over the holidays. We're proud to give our teams additional time off to enjoy the festive season."

Context for a Major UK Retailer

This move affects one of Britain's fastest-growing discount chains, which employs more than 28,500 people nationwide. As the busiest shopping period of the year approaches, the closures are a clear commitment from the management to staff welfare during the festive period.

Shoppers are advised to plan their visits accordingly, ensuring any last-minute purchases are made before the early closure on Christmas Eve. The stores will reopen following the designated holiday breaks.
