Beloved beauty retailer Sephora has unveiled ambitious plans to launch its first-ever stores in Scotland later this year, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing UK expansion strategy. The beauty giant is set to open new branches in both Edinburgh and Glasgow, with both locations scheduled to welcome customers during the summer of 2026.
Strategic Scottish Expansion
Sephora will establish its inaugural Scottish outlets at two prime retail destinations: St James Quarter in Edinburgh and Silverburn Shopping Centre in Glasgow. According to reports from Retail Gazette, the Edinburgh branch will occupy 4,961 square feet of retail space, while the Glasgow location will span 5,048 square feet, making it the chain's largest Scottish store.
Management Enthusiasm
Sarah Boyd, Sephora UK's managing director, expressed excitement about the expansion, stating to the Express: "The Sephora UK team and I are thrilled to finally reveal that we're bringing our 'temples of beauty' to not one, but two incredible Scottish cities this summer - with fans crying out for a Scottish beauty playground."
Boyd further elaborated: "It has been three years since we opened our first UK store; from the very beginning we've been searching for the perfect locations for us to open in the region and we are so happy to have found them in Edinburgh's St James Quarter and Silverburn Glasgow. Opening in both Edinburgh and Glasgow this summer is about bringing double the energy, double the access and double the magic to a country that has long been calling for it."
Broader UK Growth Strategy
This Scottish expansion follows recent announcements of Sephora's plans to open two new outlets in London later this year. The retailer will launch stores on Carnaby Street and at Old Spitalfields Market, with the Carnaby Street location becoming Sephora UK's 15th store, offering 2,691 square feet of retail space, and the Spitalfields branch serving as its 16th, with 2,045 square feet of shopping area.
Nationwide Expansion Efforts
Beyond London and Scotland, Sephora has been actively establishing new branches across the United Kingdom. The retailer recently opened its inaugural Northern Ireland store at Belfast's Victoria Square and is preparing to launch a Bristol Cabot Circus outlet this spring. All these new locations are integral components of Sephora UK's ambitious expansion strategy, which aims to operate 20 stores nationwide by the close of 2026.
Product Offerings and Customer Experience
The confirmed boutique stores will stock a unique blend of popular favourites, niche independent brands, and exclusive 'Only At Sephora' collections. Shoppers can expect to find products from renowned brands such as Rhode, Haus Labs, Makeup By Mario, Merit Beauty, INNBeauty Project, and Tower 28, alongside viral favourites, all available for purchase.
This expansion represents a significant investment in the UK beauty retail market, demonstrating Sephora's commitment to increasing accessibility and offering diverse beauty products to consumers across the country. The strategic selection of locations in major shopping centres and high-traffic urban areas underscores the brand's focus on maximizing customer reach and enhancing the overall shopping experience.
