Tesco Unveils Major Easter Delivery Overhaul with Expanded Slot Availability
Tesco, the United Kingdom's largest supermarket chain, has announced a substantial update to its home delivery and Click+Collect services, set to commence next week. This strategic move is designed to accommodate the anticipated surge in demand during the Easter period, which falls on the weekend of 4-5 April 2026.
Earlier Access and Additional Slots for Holiday Planning
The retailer is implementing a dual approach to enhance customer convenience. Firstly, Tesco will open booking for home delivery and Click+Collect slots a full week earlier compared to previous years. Secondly, the company is adding an impressive 120,000 extra slots to its system. For the first time in its history, Tesco will provide six consecutive weeks of slot availability, covering the entirety of the Easter school holiday break.
Jillian Lidgate, Tesco's Online Customer Director, emphasized the benefits for shoppers. "With 120,000 extra home delivery and Click+Collect slots available this Easter, we're making it easier for customers to plan their celebrations with great-quality products delivered direct to their door or Click+Collect location of their choice," she stated. "Whether they need to get the essentials for their staycation or everything they need to host Easter Sunday lunch, customers can get one thing sorted early – their delivery slot."
Staggered Booking Schedule and Subscription Perks
The additional slots will be available for reservation starting from 24 February, continuing through to mid-April. Access will be staggered based on customer membership plans. Subscribers to the Anytime Delivery Saver or Click+Collect plans will gain exclusive early booking privileges from 6am on 24 February. All other customers, including those with Off-Peak Delivery Saver plans, can begin booking from 6am on 3 March.
Tesco's subscription options offer significant savings and advantages. The Anytime Delivery Saver 12-month subscription starts at £6.99 per month, providing early slot access and potential annual savings of up to £176 on delivery or collection fees. Meanwhile, the Click+Collect plan begins from £2.49 monthly for a six-month term, granting priority access to Christmas and Easter Click+Collect slots.
Easter Spending Trends and Economic Context
Easter remains a peak spending period for British consumers, particularly on food and beverages. In 2025, total expenditure on food and drink reached approximately £415 million, with £100 million dedicated solely to Easter eggs and confectionery in the week preceding the holiday. Record-breaking sales were observed for meat, fish, and poultry, with lamb leading the category.
As food inflation rates continue to decline gradually, industry analysts predict that consumer spending during Easter 2026 will remain robust. Tesco's proactive expansion of delivery services aims to capture this demand efficiently, ensuring customers can secure their essentials without last-minute hassles.
