Topshop Makes Dramatic High Street Comeback Across 32 John Lewis Locations
The iconic British fashion brand Topshop is set for a major revival on UK high streets, following a strategic partnership with John Lewis. This significant relaunch will see Topshop products available in all 32 John Lewis department stores across England, Scotland, and Wales, marking a pivotal return to physical retail for the label.
A Strategic Revival After Years of Absence
Topshop, along with its sibling brand Topman, has been absent from standalone high street locations since 2021, when former owner Arcadia entered administration. The brand was subsequently acquired by online retailer ASOS, which continued to sell Topshop products digitally. However, the new deal with John Lewis represents a substantial shift back to brick-and-mortar presence.
This launch forms a key part of John Lewis's broader £800 million long-term investment strategy across its retail outlets. The department store chain is aggressively expanding its fashion offerings ahead of the spring and summer season, introducing 14 new fashion, jewellery, and accessory labels to complement the Topshop range.
Exclusive Collections and Nationwide Availability
From today, February 17, customers can access a curated collection of 130 of Topshop's most in-demand pieces, including the brand's signature denim items and new-season footwear. Topman will be available in seven of the John Lewis stores. All products will also be accessible via John Lewis's online platforms, ensuring nationwide reach.
Michelle Wilson, Managing Director of Topshop, emphasised the customer-centric approach: "Today is about making it easier for customers to access the Topshop and Topman pieces they love. From our cult denim to new-season footwear, you can see it, feel it, and take it home the same day."
Aligning with Fashion Events and Broader Ambitions
The relaunch strategically coincides with London Fashion Week and will be supported by high-profile activations, including a takeover of Piccadilly Circus in London and other events across the UK. This move underscores John Lewis's ambition to become a definitive style authority on the British high street.
Peter Ruis, Managing Director of John Lewis, stated: "This moment marks a significant acceleration of our fashion ambition at John Lewis. To be the exclusive home of an iconic brand like Topshop, sat alongside other exciting new brands, signals our commitment to be the definitive style authority on the British high street."
Store Locations and Future Prospects
The Topshop collections will be stocked at John Lewis stores in key locations including:
- London: Oxford Street, Brent Cross, Stratford, Canary Wharf, Peter Jones, White City, Kingston
- North West: Liverpool, Trafford Manchester, Cheadle Manchester
- Scotland and Wales: Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cardiff
- Various regions such as Leeds, Nottingham, Cambridge, and Southampton
This expansion follows a successful trial with pop-up shops in select John Lewis locations last year and a prior launch at London's Liberty department store. The partnership reflects a broader trend of revitalising traditional retail spaces through strategic collaborations and significant investment in customer experience.
