Celebrity Solstice Returns to Service After Extensive Refurbishment

The 18-year-old Celebrity Solstice cruise ship has made a triumphant return to the water in Singapore, following an intensive 46-day refurbishment project. This significant overhaul forms part of a broader $250 million (£187 million) investment aimed at revitalising the entire five-strong Solstice class fleet operated by Celebrity Cruises.

A New Era for the Solstice Class

The extensive refurbishment marks a new chapter for the vessel that originally launched the Solstice Series. The remaining four ships in the class – namely Equinox, Eclipse, Silhouette, and Reflection – are scheduled to undergo similar comprehensive, bow-to-stern renovations in the coming years. Following its debut in Asian and Australian waters, the revitalised Celebrity Solstice is set to commence its inaugural Alaska season this summer.

Furthermore, commencing on 13 September 2026, the ship will embark on an epic "Grand Voyage": a monumental 110-night sailing adventure. This journey will traverse more than 55 ports across diverse regions including Alaska, the South Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, and Asia, culminating in a spectacular New Year's Eve arrival in Hong Kong.

Enhanced Accommodations and Increased Capacity

Passengers boarding the revamped Celebrity Solstice will discover a host of cabin upgrades. Every stateroom on the ship has been meticulously renovated, with an additional 54 new cabins introduced, bringing the total count to 1,479. Four new stateroom categories have been unveiled: the Panoramic Infinite Veranda Suite, two distinct Panoramic Ocean View Suite categories, and the Deluxe Panoramic Ocean View.

Guests booked in the exclusive Retreat suites will enjoy access to a brand-new sundeck complete with a hot tub, dedicated outdoor seating, and a redesigned private lounge. AquaClass cabins have also received a significant refresh, now featuring:

  • Massaging shower heads
  • Aromatherapy diffusers
  • In-room yoga mats
  • Premium robes and slippers
  • A curated pillow menu

AquaClass passengers additionally benefit from complimentary access to the updated exclusive restaurant, Blu, and the spa’s Persian Garden. These enhancements have increased the ship’s total capacity to 2,958 passengers based on double occupancy.

New Outdoor and Dining Experiences

A new top-deck outdoor area named Sunset Park offers passengers a vibrant social space. This open-air venue provides sweeping ocean views and hosts activities such as yoga sessions, lawn games, and live music performances. For those seeking respite, new private cabanas are available. The area also features the Sunset Park Cafe, offering casual dining options for breakfast and lunch.

The culinary offerings have been expanded with the introduction of two new restaurants:

  • Trattoria Rossa: An Italian restaurant specialising in seafood, classic meat dishes, pasta, and tableside preparations like chicken parmesan and Caesar salad.
  • Fine Cut Steakhouse: A popular venue from the Edge series, now onboard Celebrity Solstice, serving 30-day dry-aged steaks and fresh seafood.

Revitalised Bars, Lounges, and Entertainment

Entertainment options have been significantly bolstered with two new venues: a 125-seat Boulevard Lounge for piano bar singalongs, karaoke, and game shows, accompanied by the Boulevard Bar for crafted cocktails. Additionally, a new sports and gaming lounge, The Parlor, invites guests to enjoy billiards, darts, nostalgic board games, and live sports broadcasts on a large screen.

The onboard theatre will debut two new production shows:

  1. "Smoke and Ivories": A celebration of 1950s sounds featuring piano entertainment, high-flying acrobatics, and world-class vocals.
  2. "Rockumentary": A live concert experience that recreates landmark rock performances across the decades.

Other entertainment highlights include a candlelit concert series featuring live string renditions of iconic rock performances.

Leadership Perspective on the Transformation

Laura Hodges Bethge, President of Celebrity Cruises, commented on the refurbishment: "Celebrity Solstice launched our Solstice Series ships and defined a generation of Celebrity Cruises travel. This reimagination honours that heritage while setting a new standard for what an elevated vacation can be. Every new experience was designed around how our guests want to spend their time, backed by the unmatched hospitality that defines every Celebrity Cruises sailing."
