Six Flags Expands Gold Pass Access to Regional Parks Amid Attendance Challenges
Six Flags Gold Pass Now Grants Regional Park Access

Six Flags has announced a significant upgrade to its Gold Pass and Membership benefits, introducing regional access that allows holders to visit multiple parks within designated areas at no extra cost. This move comes as the entertainment giant grapples with attendance struggles and financial losses following its 2024 merger with Cedar Fair.

New Regional Access Structure

Under the new system, Six Flags parks are grouped into four distinct regions: East, Midwest, Texas, and West. Each region includes a mix of amusement and water parks, enabling Gold Passholders and Members to explore beyond their traditional home park throughout the 2026 season.

The company stated that this change eliminates the previous restriction tying passes to a single park, making day trips, weekend getaways, and visits to nearby attractions more accessible and affordable. The rollout will be phased throughout February, with regional benefits gradually appearing on park product pages and passholder benefit grids.

Regional Park Groupings

The regions are structured as follows:

  • East Region: Includes parks such as Carowinds in North Carolina, Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey, and Six Flags New England in Massachusetts.
  • Midwest Region: Features Cedar Point in Ohio, Kings Island in Mason, and Six Flags Great America in Illinois, among others.
  • Texas Region: Encompasses Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, and Schlitterbahn water parks.
  • West Region: Contains Six Flags Magic Mountain in California, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, and Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park.

Accommodating Existing Passholders

Six Flags is also addressing the needs of existing Gold Passholders who previously purchased an All Park Passport add-on. Those who secured the add-on before the regional access launch will receive a free upgrade to a Prestige Pass or Membership on February 27, granting all-park access across North America for the 2026 season.

Additionally, Gold Passholders who obtained an All Park Passport during the 2025 MVP Promotion will retain full park access through 2026, with regional access commencing in 2027 for active Members.

Enhanced Loyalty Programs and Digital Features

Alongside the regional access upgrade, Six Flags is revamping its loyalty program with new digital Pass Perks delivered via the Six Flags app. The company is also launching the online Midway Arcade, where passholders can play games for chances to win prizes, including free season passes and Fast Lane access.

A limited-time Spring Sale during February allows select parks to sell Gold Passes at the price of Silver Passes, providing further incentives for visitors.

Financial Context and Future Attractions

These announcements occur against a backdrop of financial challenges for Six Flags. The company reported a $320 million loss in early 2025 and experienced a 9 percent drop in attendance during the second quarter of 2025 compared to 2024, equating to approximately 1.4 million fewer visitors.

Although attendance saw a slight rebound with a 3 percent increase in July and August, revenue still declined by 2 percent during that summer period. As Six Flags reviews its park portfolio and considers potential closures, it continues to invest in new attractions.

One such development is the Tormenta Rampaging Run at Six Flags Over Texas, themed after the running of the bulls in Spain. Park officials have described it as the tallest, fastest, and longest dive coaster in the world, set to open later this year.

The regional access initiative represents a strategic effort to boost visitor numbers and provide added value to loyal customers during a period of operational reassessment and innovation.
