In an ambitious test of endurance and route planning, two travel specialists engaged in a high-stakes race from the heart of London to the tropical shores of Fiji, covering opposite directions around the globe.
The Great Aviation Challenge
Nicky Kelvin and Liam Spencer, renowned experts from the travel platform The Points Guy, initiated this extraordinary journey from Piccadilly Circus under clear blue skies. This marked the brand's most extensive travel race to date, with an estimated travel time of up to 30 hours for the colossal London to Fiji route.
Nicky Kelvin chose an eastbound trajectory, commencing his journey via the London Tube and Elizabeth Line to Heathrow Airport. His first flight was aboard a Cathay Pacific A350 featuring their new business-class Aria Suite, heading towards Hong Kong International Airport.
Meanwhile, Liam Spencer opted for a westbound strategy, taking the premium Heathrow Express train service before boarding an American Airlines 777-300ER business class flight directed towards America's west coast.
A Neck-and-Neck Finish
After his stop in Hong Kong, where he had sufficient time for a refreshment break, Nicky connected onto a Fiji Airways' A330 flight for the final segment to the South Pacific.
Liam, after a swift transit through Los Angeles International Airport, boarded his concluding leg on a Fiji Airways' A350. Following more than 24 hours of continuous travel, the competition culminated in an astonishingly close finish at Nadi International Airport.
The concluding moments were intensely dramatic, with Nicky literally sprinting upon arrival in a final effort to secure victory. Ultimately, Liam Spencer emerged victorious, his westbound journey proving marginally faster by a mere 30 minutes.
