Porsche Cayenne Coupe Electric: 911 Look, 415 Miles

Porsche is expanding its electric SUV lineup with a new twist on a familiar name. The Cayenne Coupe Electric gets a sharper look than the new Cayenne Electric, more performance and a clear nod towards the brand’s most famous car.

Design Inspired by the 911

Porsche has taken inspiration from the 911, giving the new model a sloping roofline – known internally as the ‘flyline’ – that changes the Cayenne’s shape from the windscreen backwards. It’s a subtle shift but one that’s designed to make the car look lower, wider and more purposeful on the road.

“The gently sloping roofline sweeps elegantly over the car’s broad shoulders and gives the Cayenne Coupe a particularly sporty appearance,” says Thomas Stopka, Porsche’s head of exterior design. “Precisely drawn lines, wide proportions and high-gloss black side window strips form a design that exudes sportiness in every detail. Extroverted and clearly positioned, the new Cayenne Coupe Electric is a sports car through and through.”

Efficiency and Practicality

That sleeker shape isn’t just for show either. Porsche says it helps the car cut through the air more cleanly, with a drag coefficient of 0.23 compared to 0.25 for the standard SUV. The result is a small but useful boost in efficiency, with the maximum range increasing by up to 11 miles to a claimed 415 miles, depending on the version. Despite the more dramatic look, the Cayenne Coupe Electric hasn’t sacrificed practicality. It’s the same length and width as the standard SUV at 4,985mm long and 1,980mm wide but sits 24mm lower overall. Boot space ranges from 534 litres to 1,347 litres, while there’s also a 90-litre frunk for charging cables and smaller bags. Buyers can choose between a two-seat rear layout or a more traditional two and one setup, and there’s still the option of a tow bar with a towing capacity of up to 3.5 tonnes.

Performance and Powertrain

At launch, there will be three versions to choose from, mirroring the existing Cayenne Electric lineup. The entry-level model produces 402bhp, rising to 436bhp with launch control, and will get from 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds. Above that sits the Cayenne S Coupe Electric with 536bhp, or 657bhp on overboost, cutting the 0-62mph time to 3.8 seconds. At the top of the range is the Turbo, delivering a huge 845 bhp, or up to around 1,140bhp with overboost, and a claimed 0-62mph time of just 2.5 seconds.

Underneath, the Coupe shares much of its tech with the SUV. Adaptive air suspension comes as standard, while Porsche’s more advanced active suspension system is available on the S and Turbo models. Rear-axle steering can also be added, helping with manoeuvrability at low speeds and stability at higher ones.

Charging and Interior

Charging is handled by an 800V system, which Porsche says allows for very fast top-up times on the right charger. Peak DC charging is rated at up to 390kW, or even 400kW in certain conditions, while AC charging comes in at 11kW as standard, with an optional 22kW upgrade.

Inside, the layout follows the same approach as the Cayenne Electric SUV, with a digital, driver-focused setup. There’s a fully digital instrument cluster, a central infotainment display and the option of a passenger screen, along with an augmented reality head-up display. Porsche says the system is designed to be easy to use, with a mix of digital and physical controls, plus customisable displays and support for third-party apps.

Equipment and Pricing

Standard equipment has been boosted compared to the SUV, too. The Coupe comes with a panoramic glass roof as standard, along with the Sport Chrono package. For those wanting something a bit more focused, there’s also an optional Lightweight Sport package. This includes a carbon roof that lowers the car’s centre of gravity, unique 22-inch wheels and performance tyres, along with interior touches like carbon trim and Race-Tex materials. Depending on the model, it can shave up to 17.6kg off the overall weight.

Prices start from £86,200 for the entry-level Cayenne Coupe Electric, rising to £103,100 for the S and £133,300 for the Turbo. Orders are open now, with first UK deliveries expected to begin this summer.
