£10m Drugs Seized in Glasgow, Two Men Arrested

Police in Glasgow have made one of the largest drug recoveries in Scottish history, seizing narcotics with an estimated street value of £10 million from a property in the city's east end.

Major Raid on Balintore Street

On Sunday, officers from Police Scotland executed a search warrant at an address on Balintore Street in the Shettleston area. During the operation, they discovered and confiscated a vast quantity of illegal substances. The seizure included a significant amount of cocaine alongside a quantity of heroin.

Arrests and Court Proceedings

As a direct result of the discovery, two men, aged 43 and 22, were arrested and charged in connection with the recovery. Both individuals are scheduled to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, December 22. Police have confirmed that further inquiries into the matter are ongoing.

A Blow to Organised Crime Networks

Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Houston hailed the operation as a critical strike against drug suppliers. "Drugs cause nothing but misery in our communities and we are dedicated to disrupting the activities of those involved in their supply," he stated.

He emphasised the scale of the find, noting: "This is one of the largest drugs recoveries ever made in Scotland and comes off the back of a number of other major seizures throughout December."

ACC Houston underlined the force's commitment, linking the success to the national strategy against serious organised crime. "Significant recoveries such as this highlight how taking drugs off the streets is a priority for Police Scotland, and further underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce," he added.

The senior officer also issued a call to the public for continued assistance. "Information from the public is the lifeblood which helps us recover illegal drugs and to identify those involved in their supply," Houston said. He urged anyone with information or concerns about drug activity to contact Police Scotland via 101 or to make an anonymous call to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
