French model in court over Bondi cocaine supply charges

A French model and actor, who is part of Sydney's exclusive social scene, has appeared before a local court facing serious allegations of drug supply. Matthieu Frasse-Perange, 38, is accused of supplying a commercial quantity of cocaine in the beachside suburb of Tamarama.

Court Appearance and Specific Allegations

Frasse-Perange faced Waverley Court, sitting at John Maddison Tower, on Tuesday. He is charged with two counts of drug supply and one count of dealing with suspected proceeds of crime under $5,000. Police allege the offences took place on November 29 in Tamarama, where he is accused of supplying cocaine and dealing with $2,550 believed to be criminal proceeds.

Representing himself after his lawyer did not return from holiday, he was dressed casually in a white t-shirt and navy slacks. Following a short break where he attempted to call his legal representative, Magistrate Michael Barko adjourned the case. Frasse-Perange must now return to court on February 4 to enter a formal plea.

Social Connections and Past Convictions

The accused man's social media profiles reveal connections to several well-known Bondi party figures, including Raoul Kesby. Kesby was previously jailed for his involvement in a major Sydney drug supply plot, where he and two others attempted to traffic approximately 50kg of cocaine. That quantity had an estimated street value in the tens of millions of dollars. Kesby received a sentence with a non-parole period of 2 years and 10 months.

International Modelling Career

Before these charges, Frasse-Perange had a successful international modelling career. His portfolio includes work for luxury fashion designer Tom Ford and the prominent Australian department store David Jones. According to a European talent agency, he is 185cm tall with an athletic build and green eyes, and is fluent in French, English, Spanish, and some Chinese.

His career began after a motorcycle accident in 2006 and has taken him to global hubs including New York City, Hong Kong, and Los Angeles. He spent time in China in 2012 to build his portfolio, later telling the Global Times: "Thanks to the many brands and clients, there are plenty of jobs in China. I work almost every day because the market is so big." More recently, he attended the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and has appeared in various television commercials.

The case continues, with the court awaiting his plea early next month.
