Woman, 29, died after house party in Huddersfield

A 29-year-old woman has been remembered as a 'truly beautiful soul' following her sudden death after a house party in West Yorkshire.

A Tragic Night in Huddersfield

Polly Zajdler, from Pudsey near Leeds, tragically died on 9 August after attending a gathering with her boyfriend, Scott, at a friend's house on South Avenue, Fartown, Huddersfield.

An inquest at Bradford Coroners' Court heard that Polly had consumed alcohol alongside a number of prescribed and controlled drugs during the party. She later became unsteady and needed assistance to go upstairs to bed.

In the early hours, at around 5am, Scott discovered Polly was unresponsive. He immediately performed chest compressions and called an ambulance, but sadly she could not be saved.

Coroner's Conclusion of Misadventure

Assistant coroner Caroline Chandler recorded a conclusion of misadventure. She stated the combination of substances and alcohol had 'enhanced' sedative effects, leading to fatal respiratory depression.

Pathology tests revealed a 'very high' level of one drug in Polly's system, within a range associated with fatalities. Ms Chandler described the death as a 'deliberate act' that had unintended consequences.

A police investigation found no evidence of suspicious circumstances. The coroner extended her condolences to Polly's boyfriend and her mother, Sharon.

A Life Remembered and a Community's Support

In a heartfelt statement, Polly's mother described her as a wonderful daughter and sister, who was in a happy relationship and planning to move in with Scott.

'We will miss her terribly and will love her always,' Sharon said.

Polly, a former photography student who worked as a care navigator, was praised for her passion for animals, nature, music, and unique things.

Following her death, nearly 200 people contributed to a GoFundMe appeal, raising around £6,000 to cover funeral costs. The subsequent service was described as a beautiful day filled with sunshine and love, 'just as she would have wanted.'
