A seven-year-old boy is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after being hit by a car while riding a scooter in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. The incident occurred at approximately 4pm on Wednesday, 22 April, on Commercial Road.
Emergency Response
Police, paramedics, and an air ambulance were dispatched to the scene. The child was airlifted to Alder Hey Children's Hospital for treatment. The driver of the silver Volkswagen Polo remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.
Police Appeal
Staffordshire Police have issued an appeal for witnesses. A spokesperson stated: 'We are appealing for information following a serious collision in Stoke-on-Trent involving a child. The child was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains in a serious but stable condition. Officers spoke to a number of people at the scene and carried out initial enquiries. We are now asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who has relevant CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage and has not yet spoken to a police officer to get in touch.'
The road was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident and police conducted investigations. It reopened at around 8:45pm.
