Grammy-winning R&B artist Chris Brown made an appearance at Southwark Crown Court this morning, as proceedings commenced ahead of his trial concerning allegations of a violent and unprovoked assault on a music producer at an exclusive London nightclub.

The 36-year-old singer, dressed in a white jacket and grey trousers, attended the hearing alongside his co-defendant, US rapper Omololu Akinlolu, who is also known by his stage name HoodyBaby. During the brief session, Brown spoke only to confirm his identity before the court.
Prosecutors allege that the incident took place in the early hours of February 19, 2023, at the upscale Tape nightclub located in Hanover Square, Mayfair. The court has heard that music producer Abraham Diaw was reportedly standing at the bar when Brown is accused of striking him multiple times over the head with a tequila bottle.

CCTV footage is said to depict Brown chasing Mr Diaw through the venue before proceeding to kick and punch him as he lay on the floor. The prosecution has characterised the alleged assault as entirely unprovoked.
