Tributes have been paid to a 15-year-old boy who died after a brain aneurysm. Ethan Davies-Lunn, described as "full of life and love," passed away on Tuesday, leaving his family and community in shock.
No Prior Medical Conditions
Ethan, who had no known medical conditions, was a talented footballer and a popular pupil at Leasowes High School in Halesowen, West Midlands. The youth football community has been quick to honor his memory, with several teams planning to hold minutes of silence before their matches this weekend.
A Loving Tribute from His Mother
Ethan's mother, Lynsey Davies-Lunn, remembered her son as a "shining light" who brought joy to everyone around him. She said: "As a parent, you hope that you raise a child who embodies the values you believe in as a family. Ethan was that son for us. He was full of life and love, and this is something he clung to in all parts of his life. He had a passion for football, music, food, fitness, friends and most of all, his family. He was a shining light for anyone who knew him and he was, above all else, kind. The world is a darker place for Ethan not being in it so, as his friends and family, we can only try to bring the same light to others that Ethan gave to us."
Football Community in Mourning
Ethan played for Halesowen Town Colts for about 10 years. The club described him as "a lovely, caring and considerate young man." His former coach, Mark Chapman, told Halesowen News: "I've had the privilege of watching him grow up, both through football and alongside my own son, as they were the same age. He was such a kind and caring boy who absolutely loved his football. He was loved by everyone who knew him. Ethan had a really bright future ahead of him. He brought so much joy to those around him and was incredibly bright, I had no doubt he would go far in life. This is truly devastating news."
Tributes from Teachers and Friends
A teacher from Leasowes High School posted on social media: "I am devastated. Such an amazing young man. So talented. So polite. A truly well rounded 'gentleman'. My heart goes out to his family and friends at this very difficult time. Rest in peace Ethan." Another Facebook user wrote: "One of our grandson's school friends. So very very sad. Heartfelt condolences to his family and friends."
Understanding Brain Aneurysms
Unruptured brain aneurysms, which are swellings in a blood vessel in the brain, are rare, affecting about 3,000 people per 100,000 in the UK. Ethan was otherwise fit and healthy before his sudden death.
