In a terrifying incident that underscores the growing concerns over street violence in the capital, CCTV cameras have captured the moment a knifeman armed with a large blade stabbed at a victim in broad daylight on a residential London street. The attack unfolded in Southall, west London, at 9.39pm last night, with the footage revealing a harrowing struggle in the middle of a quiet cul-de-sac.
Details of the Violent Confrontation
The CCTV video shows two men tussling in the road, but the situation quickly escalates when one man, wearing a dark hoodie, reveals he is carrying a massive knife with a sharp blade. Brandishing the weapon, the pair continue to wrestle, with the assailant repeatedly stabbing towards his victim as they grapple. Eventually, the victim manages to break free from the ferocious struggle and sprints away down Beresford Road. Meanwhile, the knifeman casually walks off in the opposite direction towards an alleyway, leaving the scene without pursuit. The one-minute-and-five-second footage ends with the attacker disappearing from view.
Community Reaction and Rising Knife Crime
Local residents expressed shock and anger over the incident. One local, Nujat Khan, asked, 'Is he alright?' while another urged the community to stay safe and alert. Others voiced frustration, with one commenting, 'F****** animals running wild in the streets. And we aren't allowed to protect ourselves,' and another blaming political leadership with 'Starmer's UK.' A fifth resident lamented, 'Time for you all to get out of the s*** pit.'
This attack comes amid a rise in knife crime in London. According to Statista, there were 16,344 knife crime incidents reported between 2024 and 2025, up from the pre-Covid peak of 15,928 from 2019 to 2020. In a related tragic event on the same day, a 26-year-old man was stabbed to death outside Laxa Lounge nightclub in Peckham. Police Response and Arrests
In the Peckham incident, four men—one aged 18 and three aged 24—have been arrested on suspicion of murder. Detective Chief Inspector Neil John described the event as 'deeply tragic' and has urged witnesses to come forward. A 26-year-old female student living near the scene told the Daily Mail, 'It's pretty scary knowing that somebody of your age has just been stabbed right outside your home. You don't even need to step outside the door and you're ducking under police tape. So it's very scary and we want the club to be shut down. There are always fights there and the police often have to get called to break them up.'
The Metropolitan Police have been approached for comment regarding the Southall attack, but no further details have been released at this time. This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement and communities in combating violent crime on London's streets.
