Armed police descended on a street in Trafford on Friday night after a shooting left one person with serious injuries. Emergency services rushed to Higher Road in Urmston following reports of a firearms discharge.
Scene Secured After Evening Shooting
Greater Manchester Police were called to the scene at around 8:42pm on Friday 16 January 2026. Upon arrival, they found one casualty who was treated by paramedics for serious injuries before being taken to hospital.
A significant cordon was quickly established along a stretch of Higher Road, close to Urmston railway station. The area remained closed to the public overnight as forensic examinations began.
Police Launch Public Appeal for Information
In an update, police have urged witnesses and anyone with relevant footage to come forward. Chief Inspector Mark Allinson, the Force Critical Incident Manager, stated that extra patrols have been deployed in the local area while enquiries continue.
One witness at the scene reported seeing a ripped puffa jacket on the pavement inside the police tape, highlighting the severity of the incident.
