A major police manhunt has been launched following a distressing incident in which a 95-year-old woman was tied up during an attempted robbery at her home in Salford, Greater Manchester.
Disturbing Details of the Home Invasion
The terrifying ordeal began yesterday morning in the Little Hulton area when a man approached the pensioner's home under the pretence of offering to clean her windows. Once inside the property, the intruder proceeded to tie up the elderly woman's hands before demanding that she hand over her cash and purse.
Brave Intervention Prevents Worse Outcome
Thankfully, the situation took a turn when another woman who knew the victim arrived at the house. The would-be thief reportedly grabbed this friend before fleeing the scene, preventing what could have been a more serious outcome. Greater Manchester Police officers rushed to the address at 11am yesterday morning, where they provided support to the elderly resident, who was fortunately uninjured despite the traumatic experience.
Police Description and Public Appeal
Detectives have now released a detailed description of the suspect they are urgently seeking. He is described as a white male approximately in his late 60s to early 70s, with short mousy brown hair combed back, no facial hair, and glasses. He appeared well-kempt and was wearing a dark raincoat jacket, jeans, and dark-coloured shoes at the time of the incident.
Detective Inspector Paul Davies, from GMP's Salford district, stated: 'This was a vile incident in which a woman was tied up and threatened, and we are determined to locate the man responsible. Thankfully, this was not a more serious situation and we commend the brave actions of the lady's friend who confronted the man and called officers.'

Members of the public are being asked to come forward with any information that could assist the investigation, including CCTV footage, doorbell camera recordings, or any sightings of the described individual. Detective Inspector Davies emphasised: 'As we progress this investigation, we are appealing for anyone with any information to please come forward.
