Bachelor Party Stabbing: Friends Turn Foes Over Women's Attention in Miami Beach
Miami Beach Bachelor Party Stabbing Over Women's Attention

Two friends turned violent at a Miami Beach bachelor party, stabbing each other in a dispute over women's attention, according to police reports. The altercation occurred early Sunday morning, leading to the arrest of Olajuwon Dickerson, 32, of Massachusetts, who appeared in court via video link from a hospital on Tuesday.

Chaotic Scene Unfolds After Night Out

Miami-Dade police responded to reports of a stabbing in the early hours and found Dickerson and his friend, both with wounds—Dickerson in the arm and his friend in the stomach. The two men had been staying at the same Airbnb for a bachelor party and had visited nearby bars earlier in the evening.

Jealousy Sparks Confrontation

According to a police affidavit, Dickerson's friend became agitated when women at the bars only paid attention to Dickerson. The friend went outside to call the group's hired car to pick them up. When the car arrived, the situation escalated as the women also tried to get into the vehicle, further annoying the friend, who remains unnamed in the report.

The two men began arguing, and Dickerson approached the victim. "The defendant approached and told him to get out of the vehicle," the affidavit alleges, based on witness statements. "All witnesses stated that immediately after the defendant approached [the victim] they saw blood … [The victim] was bleeding from the abdomen area."

Knife Used in Mutual Attack

Authorities reported that Dickerson walked away from the vehicle holding his arm and a folding knife with blood on it. The victim later told police that Dickerson had demanded he exit the vehicle, but he refused because he had also paid for it. He "suddenly realized he had been stabbed with a knife and in fear of being stabbed again, he began to defend himself against [Dickerson]," the report stated.

The victim added that he knew Dickerson had been carrying a knife because bouncers at clubs had been confiscating it and handing it back to him throughout the night. However, Dickerson denied to police that he had been carrying a knife or being in an altercation, contradicting witness statements and the discovery of the weapon at the scene. "The defendant stated [they had] left the bar, and he remembered nothing else," according to the report.

Legal Consequences and Court Order

Dickerson was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Following Tuesday's hearing, he was ordered to have no contact with the friend he allegedly stabbed and is being held without bond. This incident adds to a series of chaotic events in Florida during spring break, including recent reports of crowds fleeing beaches due to gunshots at takeover events.

The case highlights the dangers of escalating conflicts in social settings, with both men suffering injuries in a violent clash that began over perceived slights and jealousy. Police continue to investigate the full details of the altercation as Dickerson awaits further legal proceedings.
