Dawn Police Chase Ends in Car Pinball Horror on Welsh Residential Street
Police Chase Car Pinballs Between Parked Vehicles in Wales

Residents of a quiet Welsh village were jolted from their sleep in the early hours by a scene of automotive carnage, as a high-speed police chase culminated in a vehicle pinballing violently between parked cars. The incident, described by witnesses as resembling something from a horror film, unfolded on Park View Terrace in Abercwmboi, near Aberdare in South Wales.

A Terrifying Wake-Up Call

At approximately 1:20 AM on Friday, April 17, Tasnim Sardar, a 57-year-old local resident, was inside her home when a deafening bang shattered the nighttime silence. Rushing to her window, she was met with a chaotic spectacle of destruction. Her home security system had fortuitously recorded the entire event, capturing the moment the out-of-control car appeared to 'ping-pong' erratically along the narrow residential road before finally shuddering to a stop amidst a shower of debris, shattered glass, and scattered car parts.

Cause of the Chaotic Collision

According to eyewitness accounts and preliminary assessments, the driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle while attempting at high speed to avoid a central road bollard. This evasive maneuver sent the car careering sideways, resulting in a sequential impact with several vehicles parked along the street. The force of the collisions was severe, with daylight revealing the extent of the damage.

Tasnim Sardar recounted the immediate aftermath: 'The scene was horrific like something out of a film. The exhaust from the crashed car had been flung into the road along with car parts, debris and shattered windscreens from the vehicles it hit. There were about four vehicles that were written off and taken away the next day.'

Police Pursuit and Emergency Response

Sardar reported seeing two police vehicles—one marked and one unmarked—in close pursuit moments before the catastrophic crash. She noted that the officers slowed their approach as the fleeing car began to lose control. Within minutes of the impact, the scene was swarmed by emergency services.

'About a minute later, there were four police cars on the scene and then ambulance and fire services showed up,' Sardar said. 'The paramedics brought their beds to wheel them away on while the firemen cut parts of the car to get the crash victims out.'

Official Statement and Aftermath

South Wales Police confirmed they were called to the collision involving a single car and multiple parked vehicles at the stated time and location. In their official statement, they reported that two individuals were transported to hospital as a precautionary measure. Notably, the police indicated that no arrests had been made immediately following the incident, and that enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the chase and crash are ongoing.

The residential street, typically a picture of tranquility, was left littered with automotive wreckage, serving as a stark reminder of the dangers of high-speed pursuits in built-up areas. Four of the parked cars struck in the cascade of impacts were so badly damaged they were declared total write-offs and required towing from the scene.
