Aspiring Rapper Denies Ownership of Second XL Bully in Fatal Mauling of Grandmother

An aspiring rapper has claimed in court that he was not 'in charge' of two XL Bullies which mauled a grandmother to death during a visit to his home. Ashley Warren, 41, has admitted owning one of the dogs involved in the attack that killed Esther Martin, 68, but he has denied owning the other one.

Court Hears Details of the Tragic Incident

Chelmsford Crown Court was informed today that Warren believed Ms Martin was 'a fit and proper' person to be in charge of the dog he owned. The retired Tesco worker from Woodford Green, east London, was killed on February 3, 2024, at Warren's home in Hillman Avenue, Jaywick, near Clacton-on-Sea, Essex.

Warren has denied a charge of being the owner of an XL Bully named Bear, which allegedly injured Ms Martin and caused her death while dangerously out of control in a private place. The court proceedings are ongoing as authorities seek to determine the full extent of responsibility for this devastating event.

Background and Implications of the Case

This case highlights ongoing concerns about dangerous dog breeds and ownership responsibilities in the UK. The tragic death of Esther Martin has sparked discussions around stricter regulations and accountability for pet owners, particularly with breeds like XL Bullies that have been involved in previous incidents.

As the legal process continues, the community and wider public await further developments, hoping for justice and measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
