A desperate search is intensifying for a Long Island woman who has been missing since Friday night after she reportedly jumped from a moving vehicle and fled into the night. Brittany Kritis-Garip, a 32-year-old resident, vanished under alarming circumstances, prompting a widespread multi-day effort involving family, police, and the public.
Husband's Account Sparks Major Search Operation
According to her husband, Fernando Garip, the incident occurred in Oyster Bay, an area on the North Shore of Long Island, New York. He told News 12 Long Island that Kritis-Garip was last seen jumping out of a moving car, throwing her phone into a bush, and running away. This account has triggered a frantic search across wooded, rural, and suburban areas near the East Norwich-Oyster Bay border.
"We've been combing wooded areas, rural areas, suburban areas, everything. So we're just asking for the public's help here. We really need the public's help to locate her," Garip stated on Sunday night. He emphasized the family's determination, adding, "We're going to be at this until she's home. I don't care what we have to do, what needs to be done."
Police Deploy Helicopter and Drones in Search Efforts
Nassau County police have escalated the search by deploying their helicopter and drones multiple times since Friday in an attempt to locate Kritis-Garip. The use of aerial technology underscores the seriousness of the situation and the challenges posed by the terrain in the search area.
Kritis-Garip is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing black pants and a black jacket with a fur collar. Authorities and her distraught family are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in the search.
