Former Arsenal Star Thomas Partey Confronts Additional Rape Allegations
Thomas Partey, the former Arsenal midfielder, has been charged with two new counts of rape, significantly expanding the legal challenges facing the footballer. These fresh charges stem from a separate report of non-recent offences dating back to 2020, involving an additional woman, and follow a new investigation conducted by the Metropolitan Police.
Ongoing Legal Proceedings and Previous Denials
Partey had already appeared in court, where he vehemently denied raping two women and sexually assaulting a third in incidents alleged to have occurred in 2021 and 2022. At that time, he was a regular player for Arsenal. The trial for these initial allegations is scheduled to commence in November.
The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed this morning that the new charges were first reported in August 2025. A spokesperson elaborated, stating, 'Mr Partey is already charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault in connection to allegations by three women of incidents which took place between 2021 and 2022.'
Details of the New Charges and Bail Conditions
The spokesperson further clarified, 'These new charges relate to a separate report of non-recent offences in 2020 involving one additional woman and follow a new investigation by the Metropolitan Police. These allegations were first reported in August 2025.' Partey is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday, 13 March for a first hearing regarding these additional counts.
Notably, Partey was charged just four days after his departure from Arsenal in June, following the expiration of his contract. He now plays for Villareal in Spain. Despite the serious nature of the allegations, the conditions of his bail do not prevent him from continuing his football career. However, he is required to notify police of any international travel at least 24 hours in advance and is strictly prohibited from contacting the complainants.
The alleged offences from 2021 and 2022, which he previously denied in court, are said to have taken place during his tenure as an Arsenal regular. The footballer, now 32 years old, was pictured arriving at Southwark Crown Court in September of last year, underscoring the high-profile nature of this case.
