Burglar Caught on CCTV Carrying Stolen TV in Broad Daylight
Burglar caught with stolen TV on CCTV

A Nottingham burglar's brazen daytime theft was captured on CCTV, showing him casually walking down a street with a large stolen television.

Caught on Camera

Kirk Bradley was filmed hauling a high-value LG smart 4k TV through the streets of Sherwood at approximately 10:30 in the morning on 21 September 2022.

The television wasn't his property but had just been stolen moments earlier from a nearby home on Melrose Street. Bradley had broken into the property and taken hundreds of pounds worth of electrical items, including a PlayStation 4, an Xbox, and two smartphones alongside the television.

Mounting Evidence and Delayed Guilty Plea

Police identified Bradley from the clear footage, and investigators found one of his fingerprints near the back door where he had forced entry.

Despite this compelling evidence, the 34-year-old from Clipstone Road West, Forest Town, maintained his innocence for nearly three years. He claimed he had bought the television from a friend.

Bradley only changed his plea to guilty on the eve of his trial this August, finally admitting to the burglary charge.

Court Sentencing and Police Statement

Bradley reappeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday 7 November for sentencing.

He received an 18-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months. The court also ordered him to complete 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days and to pay a victim surcharge.

Detective Constable Richard Evans of Nottinghamshire Police commented on the case: "While he may have technically pleaded guilty to this burglary, Bradley only did so after years of denying he'd done anything wrong."

"Despite CCTV footage clearly showing him carrying a large TV he'd just stolen down the street, he always claimed he'd bought it from a friend. This was all a lie."

DC Evans added that while significant time had passed since the offence, he hoped the sentencing would provide some comfort to the victim.
