Woman Targeted in Glasgow City Centre Assault
A 46-year-old woman was rushed to hospital for treatment following a disturbing incident in the heart of Glasgow on Saturday evening. Emergency services were called to the scene on Buchanan Street at approximately 6:20pm after reports that a harmful substance had been thrown at the victim.
Police Investigation and Arrest
Police Scotland swiftly launched an investigation into the assault, which they have described as a worrying incident for the public. A significant development came with the arrest of a 51-year-old woman in connection with the event.
The suspect has been formally charged in connection with the assault and is scheduled to make an appearance at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
Reassurance from Senior Officer
Chief Inspector Stephen McManus of Police Scotland addressed public concerns, stating: "We understand this was a worrying incident and thank the public for their assistance."
He added that officers would remain present in the area and encouraged anyone with concerns to approach them directly. The police continue to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the attack on one of Glasgow's busiest shopping streets.
