I have recently returned from Plateau State in Central Nigeria, a region that sits on a profound and volatile faultline. This is where the country's largely Muslim north converges with its predominantly Christian south, creating a zone of persistent tension and violence.
A Decades-Long Struggle
Violence between Muslim and Christian communities has strafed Nigeria for decades, evolving into a brutal and entrenched conflict. This ongoing strife has claimed thousands of lives, leaving deep scars across the nation and particularly in regions like Plateau State.
The Reality on the Ground
Upon my arrival, it became immediately clear that this conflict remains very much alive. The atmosphere is charged with historical grievances and contemporary tensions, underscoring the complex and enduring nature of the struggle.
