A mother has been handed a prison sentence after being found guilty of assaulting a 15-year-old girl in a shocking school altercation. The incident, captured on CCTV, showed the woman attacking the teenager outside a school in London.
The footage, presented as evidence at the Old Bailey, revealed the mother grabbing the victim by the hair and striking her multiple times. The court heard that the assault stemmed from a dispute involving the woman's child.
Judge Rebecca Poulet KC condemned the attack as "unprovoked and brutal," sentencing the mother to 12 months behind bars. She emphasised that such violence, particularly in a school setting, would not be tolerated.
The victim's family expressed relief at the verdict, stating that the incident had left their daughter traumatised. Meanwhile, the defendant's legal team argued for leniency, citing emotional distress as a mitigating factor.
