Apple Martin Graduates from Vanderbilt University

Gwyneth Paltrow's daughter Apple Martin has shared a photo of herself in her cap and gown ahead of her graduation from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. The 21-year-old took to Instagram on Thursday to announce the milestone, describing it as 'a bittersweet moment.' Her Oscar-winning mother expressed her pride by liking the post.

Graduation Details

Vanderbilt University's 2026 commencement ceremonies are scheduled for May 7–8, 2026, with the main undergraduate ceremony taking place on Friday, May 8, at FirstBank Stadium. Apple began her studies at Vanderbilt in 2022, majoring in Law, History and Society. Although she has been involved in theater as a member of the Vanderbilt Original Cast and has directed student productions, she is not a drama major.

Career and Ambitions

Apple has secured representation from top Hollywood agency CAA and has already modeled for brands like The Gap and Self-Portrait. In an interview with Interview Magazine last year, she expressed her love for theater, saying, 'I would love to do theater because I adore it so much. I've obviously never done film before, but I've been trying to get involved in student films. I was born a theater kid.' She also clarified that she does not wish to pursue a career in music like her father, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, stating, 'I don't wanna be a singer. I like musical theater, but getting onstage by yourself to sing is so terrifying. I love dancing and I love acting. My dream is to act.'

Addressing Rumors

Apple previously made headlines after rumors circulated that she had been expelled from school for bullying. She denied these allegations on Instagram, writing, 'Hi! I didn't wanna respond but this narrative is completely false and has gotten so out of hand. I have never been expelled from any school, especially not for bullying anyone.'

Family Reactions

In 2022, Gwyneth Paltrow publicly announced that Apple was starting college, describing the emotional difficulty of letting her daughter go. 'It was horrible. It was truly horrifying,' Paltrow said. 'I was sick to my stomach, bursting into tears.' She added that she has since grown accustomed to the separation and is relieved that Apple is happy. Paltrow also mentioned that Apple visited home for parents' weekend and October break, saying, 'That was amazing.' Paltrow, who also has son Moses with Chris Martin, expressed gratitude for each stage of her children's lives, noting that she cherishes every chapter.
