Alan Carr Addresses Chatty Man Future and Reveals Unusual Career Plans
Comedian and television personality Alan Carr has provided a definitive update regarding the potential return of his popular chat show Chatty Man, while simultaneously revealing some rather unconventional career considerations that might surprise his fans.
Chatty Man Revival Rumours Dismissed
During a recent appearance on Jessie and Lennie Ware's Table Manners podcast alongside Amanda Holden, Carr addressed persistent rumours about his acclaimed talk show making a comeback following his successful stint on The Celebrity Traitors. The speculation had gained momentum after Carr's popularity surged during the BBC reality competition.
"Oh, that was another clickbait thing during Traitors," Carr explained regarding the revival rumours. "It would be nice to do a chat show, I don't know. I read about it and thought, 'Oooh Chatty Man's come back', but no one's approached me or anything."
The comedian made it clear that while he would welcome the opportunity to host a talk show again, there have been no concrete discussions or offers regarding a return of the programme that originally aired between 2009 and 2016.
Unexpected Career Directions Considered
When questioned about his future professional plans, Carr revealed he's contemplating some rather unexpected avenues. "I've kind of done it all," he reflected. "I've got my sitcom, I'm doing a show with my best mate, I've got my own interior design show. I don't know, maybe a film, or an astronaut... or OnlyFans!"
Amanda Holden enthusiastically endorsed the OnlyFans suggestion, telling her friend that "there would be a market" for his content on the subscription-based platform. When pressed by Jessie Ware about what specific content he might offer, Carr immediately suggested his feet.
"I've got lovely feet," the comedian added with characteristic humour.
Holden agreed with the potential profitability of such an endeavour, though she admitted her own feet wouldn't be suitable for similar ventures. "My husband says I look lovely until you reach the ankles, and then my feet look like warm sausages that have had a mallet to them," she quipped.
Traitors Success and Strictly Speculation
The podcast conversation also touched upon Carr's recent television success. The comedian revealed he had shared all the behind-the-scenes details of The Traitors with Amanda Holden despite having signed a non-disclosure agreement, demonstrating their close friendship and trust.
Carr proved to be a fan favourite on the reality competition, serving as a Traitor from the beginning alongside Jonathan Ross and Cat Burns. He ultimately became the only Traitor to win the series, though he and Cat were unable to convince fellow contestants Nick Mohammad and David Olusoga that Cat was a faithful participant.
His popularity on the show subsequently fuelled speculation that Carr might be in line to host Strictly Come Dancing, particularly after Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly announced they would be stepping down from their presenting roles. When directly questioned about these rumours during the podcast, both Carr and Holden emphatically denied any plans to take over the coveted presenting positions.
"No. We said no ages ago," Carr laughed in response to the suggestion, with both celebrities shaking their heads while enjoying their cocktails.
The conversation highlighted how Carr's career continues to evolve in unexpected directions, blending traditional television work with humorous considerations of digital platforms, all while maintaining the comedic sensibility that has made him a beloved figure in British entertainment.
