Ali Larter's Bikini Scene Struggles at 50 Revealed in Candid Interview
Ali Larter Opens Up About Bikini Scene Challenges at 50

Ali Larter is approaching her landmark 50th birthday next month, yet the actress continues to dedicate significant effort to maintaining her athletic 5ft8in physique. This commitment is driven by the demands of filming bikini scenes for the popular Paramount+ series Landman, a requirement she openly admits is far from enjoyable.

No Actress Enjoys Bikini Scenes, Says Larter

In a frank conversation with People magazine this Monday, the former Ford Model expressed a sentiment likely shared by many in her profession. "I don't think there's an actress alive that's like, 'Woo! Got a bikini scene!' Nobody wants to do it," Larter revealed. She elaborated that these scenes rank as her least favourite part of the job, describing them as particularly challenging. "Those are the hardest for me. I don't enjoy them. It's just part of the story that I'm telling, and I'm an actress, so I get on board. But those are definitely my least favorite."

The Mental Battle Behind the Physical Role

Larter portrays Angela Norris, a character in the Texas-set oil drama who embraces a highly physical lifestyle, complete with spray tans and blonde hair. This role necessitates that Larter stays in peak condition. However, the psychological hurdle is substantial. "But no matter what, it's like, I've got to spend all this time fighting off my own insecurities, my own anxiety, to be able to put on that bikini and walk into these scenes," the Heroes alum explained. She emphasised that adopting her character's confident mindset is crucial: "[There's] no space in my mind for insecurity. I'm not allowing any of that into my space when I play Angela. I wouldn't be able to do it if I allowed insecurity to creep in."

A Gruelling Fitness Regime to Meet Demands

To meet the physical demands of the role, Larter adheres to a strict and disciplined routine. Her day often begins with a 4:30am morning run, lasting for 30 minutes, which is followed by dedicated strength training sessions. Nutrition is also key; she maintains a "very clean" diet that is high in protein. Reflecting on the universal difficulty, she noted, "In the end, anytime you have to put on a bathing suit and walk in front of anybody, it's really difficult."

From Varsity Blues to Landman and Awards Recognition

Long-time fans of the L'Oréal Paris partner will remember one of her early iconic moments: the whipped-cream bra scene from the 1999 film Varsity Blues, filmed when she was just 22. Today, she stars in Landman, Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace's television adaptation of the 2019 Boomtown podcast. The series boasts an impressive ensemble cast including Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, and Sam Elliott.

Larter's work is set to be recognised at the newly renamed 32nd Actor Awards, airing on Netflix come March 1st. She will compete for the outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series trophy alongside twelve of her Landman co-stars. Furthermore, reports indicate that the cast and crew are scheduled to commence production on the show's third season this April or May.

Family Life and Personal Milestones

On the personal front, the actress, born in New Jersey and now based in Idaho, enjoys a stable family life. She has been married to actor Hayes MacArthur for sixteen years, a union that began after they met on the set of National Lampoon's Homo Erectus in 2007. Together, they are proud parents to two children: a 15-year-old son named Theodore and an 11-year-old daughter, Vivienne.
