From Overdose to Recovery Facility
The 60-year-old entertainer announced on Monday that he will now focus on his recovery journey while residing at a facility situated near Beverly Hills, California. This development comes less than 50 days after his admission to a Palm Springs treatment centre, which occurred shortly after his overdose in Los Angeles.
Dick revealed to TMZ that he intends to approach his sobriety methodically, taking it one step at a time. His entry into rehab in early December was facilitated by longtime friends Jennifer Gimenez and her husband Tim Ryan. The couple, who appeared with Dick on the television programme Celebrity Rehab, reportedly secured him a comprehensive scholarship for the treatment programme.
A Longstanding Battle with Addiction
This recent rehabilitation stay is not Dick's first encounter with treatment facilities. The comedian has been transparent about his struggles with substance abuse for many years. In a 2016 interview with Vice, Dick disclosed that he had attended rehab approximately twenty times to address issues with both drug and alcohol dependency.
The catalyst for his most recent treatment was a deeply alarming incident captured on video in Hollywood. Disturbing footage showed the Ben Stiller Show actor appearing limp and ashen, slumped over a staircase in daylight as bystanders attempted to rouse him.

During this critical situation, onlookers administered Narcan, a fast-acting medication designed to reverse opioid overdoses, while awaiting paramedics. Despite medical personnel offering immediate assistance at the scene, Dick reportedly declined transportation to a hospital.
In the immediate aftermath, Dick conducted an interview with TMZ where he initially insisted, while surrounded by concerned friends, that he would not enter rehabilitation. During this conversation, he admitted to overdosing on crack cocaine after encountering an individual who offered him the drug wrapped in tin foil.
