Brooklyn Beckham has ignited a fierce public row after posting a blistering six-page statement on Instagram, directly accusing his famous parents, David and Victoria Beckham, of controlling behaviour and attempting to sabotage his marriage to Nicola Peltz.
The Explosive Allegations
In the lengthy post shared on Monday night, the 26-year-old chef declared he has no wish to reconcile with his family and is standing up for himself 'for the first time in my life'. He claimed he had been 'controlled by parents that value public promotion above all else' and said he only found 'peace and relief' from crippling anxiety after marrying billionaire heiress Nicola Peltz, 31.
Brooklyn made a series of specific and damaging accusations. He stated that his mother, former Spice Girl Victoria, 51, cancelled making Nicola's wedding dress at the 'eleventh hour', forcing a last-minute replacement. He also alleged his parents 'endlessly tried' to ruin his relationship and that his mother 'hijacked' his first dance at his wedding, dancing 'very inappropriately' on him in front of 500 guests, leaving him 'humiliated'.
Furthermore, he claimed that weeks before his wedding, his parents pressured him to sign away the rights to his name, and that when he refused, their treatment of him changed. He also said that during a recent trip to the UK for his father David's 50th birthday celebrations, his requests to see him were ignored, and a meeting was only agreed to on the condition that his wife Nicola was not invited.
Public Backlash and Accusations of Privilege
Despite the serious nature of his claims, the public reaction on social media platforms like X was largely critical of Brooklyn. Many followers labelled him a 'spoilt brat' who has 'never worked a hard day in his life' and owes his entire fame and fortune to the Beckham surname.
One user fumed: 'Brooklyn Beckham never worked a hard day in his life. Spoilt brat who is only famous for the surname. Trying to make out he is the victim.' Another commented on the irony of the situation: 'The only reason anyone knows of Brooklyn Beckham is because of the fame of David and Victoria Beckham... you can't use the fame they granted you to denounce them publicly.'
The opulence of the context was also highlighted, with one person noting: 'Brooklyn Beckham marrying a billionaire's daughter and falls out with his family over a wedding dress at a multi million wedding... diabolical levels of spoilt and out of touch.'
A Family Rift and Vow Renewal
Brooklyn's statement revealed the depth of the ongoing family estrangement. He alleged that even his brothers, Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 20, were sent to attack him on social media before blocking him last summer. Cruz had previously countered claims that the family unfollowed Brooklyn, stating they had instead 'woke up blocked'.
The fallout was so severe that when Brooklyn and Nicola chose to renew their vows on their third wedding anniversary on August 2 in New York's Westchester County, his parents and siblings – including sister Harper, 14 – were not in attendance. Brooklyn said the renewal was to 'create new memories' that brought joy, not the 'anxiety and embarrassment' of their original wedding day.
In his closing remarks, Brooklyn insisted the narrative that his wife controls him is 'completely backwards', maintaining that he has been controlled by his parents for most of his life. The Beckhams have been contacted by the Daily Mail for comment regarding the allegations.
