Carmit Bachar Voices Disappointment Over Pussycat Dolls Reunion Announcement
When three original members of The Pussycat Dolls recently reunited to announce a new single and extensive world tour, one founding member was notably absent from the celebrations. Carmit Bachar, the longest-serving member of the Grammy-nominated girl group, has publicly expressed her disappointment at being excluded from the reunion plans.
Lack of Communication Sparks Disappointment
The 51-year-old singer and dancer, who boasts nearly 300,000 social media followers, took to Instagram to share her feelings about learning of the group's plans alongside the general public. "I was not contacted regarding the group's decision to move forward, and I learned of these plans at the same time as the public," Bachar revealed in her emotional statement.
Bachar emphasized her foundational role in the group's history, having joined the original burlesque troupe back in 1995 when they performed weekly shows at West Hollywood hotspots The Viper Room and The Roxy Theatre. "Given my history with the brand, having been part of its foundation long before its commercial debut and instrumental in the connections that led to the record deal… I would have appreciated direct communication," she wrote.
Honoring History While Moving Forward
Despite her disappointment, Bachar made clear she remains "proud of the role I played in helping shape what The Pussycat Dolls became." The performer, known for her distinctive flame-red hair and impressive dance background, stressed that her intention was not to create division within the fan community.
"My intention in sharing this is not to create division, but to honor the truth and the fans who have supported us throughout the years," Bachar continued. "Transparency and respect are values I hold deeply. At this time, I am choosing to focus on my well-being and to move forward with positivity and purpose."
Bachar's History with The Pussycat Dolls
The performer's relationship with the group has seen several chapters. She initially left in 2008 when faced with an ultimatum from the label between continuing with the tour and pursuing a personal project she had spent years developing. Bachar rejoined the band in 2019 for what was intended to be a major comeback tour, but those plans were ultimately canceled in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Outside of her music career, Bachar maintains a busy family life, raising her 14-year-old daughter Keala Rose with her husband of 17 years, Kevin Whitaker, founder of Special Touch Media. Meanwhile, the reunited trio of Kimberly Wyatt, Nicole Scherzinger and Ashley Roberts recently appeared in Manhattan wearing coordinated white ensembles to promote their new track "Club Song," featuring Lil Kim and Mya. The single represents their first new music in years and has generated significant buzz among fans.
The three members are also reissuing expanded versions of their two most successful albums, "PCD" and "Doll Domination," while preparing for their ambitious 53-date PCD Forever Tour. The extensive concert series is scheduled to kick off on June 5 at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, California, marking a significant return to the global stage for the iconic girl group.
