Cruz Beckham's Latest Music Video Contains Pointed Dig at Brother Brooklyn
The ongoing feud within the Beckham family has taken another public turn, with Cruz Beckham appearing to deliver a fresh swipe at his older brother Brooklyn in the promotional material for his new song. The youngest Beckham boy has been active on social media in recent months, following Brooklyn's explosive six-page statement posted to Instagram in January, which criticised their parents David and Victoria for being controlling and prioritising 'Brand Beckham' over family values.
Music Video Scene Sparks Controversy
In the opening sequence of the music video for Cruz's latest track 'For Your Love', the singer and his band are depicted in conversation with a producer. The producer suggests that if Cruz wants a music video for the song, he should "call your daddy, and get a sponsor." Cruz immediately responds with defiance, stating: "A sponsor? You think we're sell-outs? We would never do that." This brief clip was shared as a reel on Cruz's Instagram account, where it quickly garnered attention from fans and observers alike.
The comment represents a direct contradiction to one of Brooklyn's central accusations in his January statement. The eldest Beckham child, who has previously engaged in brand partnerships with companies like Superdry, claimed that his family values "public promotion and endorsements above all else" and that "Brand Beckham comes first." Cruz's retort in the video suggests a rejection of this characterization.
Social Media Reactions and Previous Exchanges
Fans praised Cruz for his wit in the comments section of the Instagram reel. One supporter wrote: "He's got talent and charisma, he doesn't need his parents," while another noted: "Love how he takes advantage of the Brand Beckham reputation." This is not the first instance where Cruz has appeared to reference the family tensions publicly.
Earlier this year, Cruz and his brother Romeo posted a since-deleted TikTok video that many interpreted as a dig at Brooklyn. The clip showed Cruz filming himself in a car before panning to include his girlfriend Jackie Apostel, Romeo, and Romeo's girlfriend Kim Turnbull. The caption read: "Imagine hating and we're just here like." Viewers were divided in their responses, with some praising the "iconic response" to Brooklyn's social media outburst, while others declared themselves "Team Brooklyn."
Solidarity with Parents Through Music Choices
Cruz further demonstrated his alignment with his parents when celebrating his upcoming tour selling out. He posted an Instagram story thanking UK fans for purchasing tickets to his first London gig, accompanying the video with lyrics from his mother Victoria's Spice Girls song 'Who Do You Think You Are?' The selected lyrics—"The race is on to get out of the bottom/The top is high so your roots are forgotten/Giving is good, as long as you're getting/What's driving you is ambition I'm betting"—appeared to reinforce his support for David and Victoria, who have reportedly been left shocked by Brooklyn's public statements.
Brooklyn had claimed in his January post that he was motivated not by ambition but by a need to "speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed." The ongoing public exchanges suggest that the rift within the famous family shows no signs of immediate resolution, with social media serving as the primary battleground for their disagreements.
