A Personal Decision Made Public
The 55-year-old actress and ex-wife of Charlie Sheen explained that she had the comprehensive facial surgery approximately eight months ago. She even shared photographic evidence from the surgical process, providing a transparent look at her transformation. Richards expressed significant sadness when her former husband leaked the news to various media outlets before she could address it herself on her own terms.
"I wanted to put things back up, where they were before," Richards stated during the interview. "I was absolutely terrified. Having been in the public eye since my early twenties, people are intimately familiar with my appearance—a facelift is simply not something that I could effectively hide from public view."

This recent procedure does not mark Richards' initial venture into cosmetic surgery. She first underwent breast augmentation surgery at the young age of nineteen and has since required revision surgeries for those initial implants over subsequent years. "So my ex informed someone that I had a facelift and falsely claimed it was botched, which is completely ridiculous," Richards continued. "I deliberated extensively about whether I would publicly address my facelift—ultimately, he essentially let the cat out of the bag prematurely."
Richards speculated that she might have managed to avoid public discussion altogether. "I believe I could have potentially gotten away with people simply saying, 'Oh, she looks so much better after her divorce.' I probably would have been able to maintain that narrative—or perhaps not, I really cannot say for certain."
