George Northwood Announces Birth of Surrogate Son Elijah
George Northwood, the renowned hairdresser famous for his work with Meghan Markle, has joyfully announced the birth of his surrogate son, Elijah. The 47-year-old took to Instagram on Tuesday to share the happy news, posting photographs of his beautiful baby boy and expressing his overwhelming love.
Heartfelt Messages from Friends and Clients
In his Instagram post, George wrote: 'One week of Elijah, totally in love and tuning in to each other, hats off to the single parents out there.' The announcement garnered warm congratulations from his celebrity circle. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, a client, commented: 'Congratulations darling G.' Other messages included: 'Darling he is utterly beautiful. Congratulations! I can't wait to give you both a squeeze,' and 'Look at him! Massive congratulations.' Additional well-wishes poured in, such as 'Adorable!! Welcome Elijah and huge congratulations George,' 'There is no more perfect duo. Love you both so much!!!!' and 'I'm so excited to meet him.'
Journey to Fatherhood and Personal Reflections
George embarked on his path to fatherhood last year, openly discussing the complexities involved. He had to find an egg donor and a surrogate willing to undergo IVF, carry the embryo, and give birth. In an interview with The Times, George revealed: 'I'd always wanted to be a dad — for me it's a non-negotiable — but I've never met the right person to do it with. My parents aren't getting any younger and I wanted to do it while I was still young enough to throw my kids around.' He added: 'I've been single for four years and I'd want to be in a relationship for a substantial amount of time before putting the pressure of wanting kids on it. So I decided it's now or never. And making that decision was so liberating.'
Reflecting on societal changes, George shared: 'A family's something I've always really wanted. When I was young, gay men didn't have the options available now, in terms of science and in terms of society accepting us as fathers. I thought mine was always going to be a lonely existence. So now I feel immense joy.'
