Jesy Nelson Reveals Why She Stayed Silent After Little Mix Exit

Former Little Mix member Jesy Nelson has tearfully opened up about her decision to leave the world-famous band in a candid new documentary trailer, set for release next month. The singer, 34, who shot to fame in 2011 alongside bandmates Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirwall, and Perrie Edwards, has rarely spoken publicly about her departure until now.

Years of Struggle and Trolling

Jesy was part of Little Mix for nine years, making history as part of the only girl band to win The X Factor. However, she faced years of difficulties behind the scenes, including cruel trolling that severely impacted her mental health. The high-profile nature of the job added immense pressure, leading to her decision to leave in 2020. At the time, she announced her exit with a statement but has remained largely quiet about her experiences since, while her former bandmates have occasionally touched on the subject.

Emotional Documentary Trailer Drops

In the trailer for her upcoming Amazon Prime documentary, Jesy is seen in tears as she explains her silence. "I've just always stayed quiet because I was the one that left," she admits, with archive footage from her time in the band playing in the background. She adds, "I've really struggled keeping all of this in... Now I'm ready to tell my side of the story." The documentary, titled Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix, is scheduled for release on February 13.

Covering Personal Health Battles

Beyond her split from Little Mix, the documentary delves into Jesy's personal life, including her pregnancy with twins. She suffered from a rare complication called Twin-to-Twin Transfusion syndrome before giving birth to her daughters, Ocean and Story. Tragically, the twins have since been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 (SMA Type 1), a genetic condition affecting muscle strength. Jesy describes the experience as one of the hardest and most painful times of her life, noting that she initially intended to document a fun journey into motherhood but ended up capturing a much more challenging reality.

A Message of Resilience and Hope

In an emotional Instagram post, Jesy expressed pride in her documentary and her daughters' strength. She wrote about how the footage has taken on new meaning since learning of their diagnosis, highlighting their resilience and happiness. Jesy hopes that sharing her story will inspire others, stating that she plans to show the documentary to her girls one day to remind them of their capabilities. The documentary promises to offer an intimate look at her life post-Little Mix, blending professional reflections with personal triumphs and struggles.
