Kelly Osbourne's Heartbreaking Grief Admission Seven Months After Ozzy's Death
Kelly Osbourne has opened up about the evolving nature of grief as she continues to process the shock death of her father, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne. The MTV star shared a deeply personal message on social media, reflecting on how her sorrow has changed shape over time.
Emotional Social Media Post
In a poignant update on Instagram Stories, Kelly penned a heartfelt note about her ongoing emotional struggles. "Some grief doesn't end. It changes shape," she wrote. "It becomes the quiet weight you learn to carry, the ache woven into your days." She continued, explaining that making it through grief doesn't mean leaving it behind, but rather finding strength to live and love while carrying that forever weight in your heart.
The 39-year-old concluded her message with powerful words about endurance: "It's about standing in the wreckage of our own heart and whispering, 'I am still here,' even when every part of you feels shattered." She later shared a sweet video cuddling with her two-year-old son, showing moments of joy amidst her sorrow.
Grammy Awards Revelation
Earlier this month, while attending the 2026 Grammy Awards which featured a tribute to her father's musical legacy, Kelly spoke candidly to PEOPLE about her grief journey. "That's the hardest thing I've ever been through in my life," she admitted. "But I have my man, and I have my gorgeous baby, and my mom and my brother and I so bonded. I didn't think we could ever get more bonded, but we did."
Kelly expressed frustration with societal expectations around grief, saying: "People usually say, 'I'm great' [months after a death of a loved one, but] I'm not doing so great." She emphasized the importance of being honest about emotional struggles rather than pretending everything is fine.
Personal Rituals and Memories
The television personality revealed several touching rituals she maintains to honor her father's memory. She always lights a candle for Ozzy and keeps an empty seat at her table in his honor. Most poignantly, she wears a special locket containing his picture that her toddler son opens daily to give a kiss and say hello to Papa.
"And every time I see the clock at 11:11, I know that's him talking to me," Kelly shared, describing these small moments of connection that help her cope with the loss.
Grammy Tribute to a Rock Legend
The 2026 Grammy Awards included an impressive tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away in July 2025 at age 76 after years of health battles. Fellow musician Yungblud performed on stage in honor of the Black Sabbath frontman, expressing deep gratitude for Ozzy's influence.
"To grow up loving an idol who helps you figure out your identity, not only as a musician, but also as a man, is something I'm really grateful for," Yungblud said during the emotional tribute. "God bless Ozzy Osbourne, and God bless rock music!"
Family Statement and Health Battles
Ozzy's death was announced last July, just days after he performed a farewell show with Black Sabbath in Birmingham. The family statement read: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love."
The rock icon had faced numerous health challenges in his later years, including a Parkinson's disease diagnosis five years before his death and a near-fatal quad bike accident in 2003 that left him with chronic pain and mobility issues. Despite these struggles, his musical legacy continues to inspire generations of fans and musicians alike.
