Kyle Sandilands Breaks Silence Over Jackie O Fallout, Denies Contract Breach

Kyle Sandilands has broken his silence following the collapse of his long-running radio partnership with Jackie O Henderson, insisting he has not breached his contract and urging ARN to let him return to the airwaves. In a statement issued Tuesday, the KIIS FM breakfast host said he wanted to speak directly to his listeners, colleagues and the public about recent events.

Sandilands acknowledged an on-air argument with Henderson on 20 February, saying he said things he wished he had said differently and apologised to her that same evening. He emphasised the depth of their relationship, describing Henderson as one of the most important people in his life and calling the potential end of their partnership devastating.

However, Sandilands criticised ARN's handling of the situation, claiming the network prevented him from contacting Henderson or speaking with colleagues. He disputed the network's claim that he had breached his contract, stating he is committed to his agreement which runs until 2034.

The dispute stems from an on-air argument during a segment about astrology, leading to Henderson stating she cannot continue to work with Sandilands. ARN subsequently suspended Sandilands, citing an act of serious misconduct. Henderson has denied quitting or resigning, saying she is deeply saddened by the events.

The fallout has sent shockwaves through the Australian radio sector, as the Kyle & Jackie O brand has been a central pillar of ARN's commercial strategy, underpinning KIIS FM's breakfast dominance and commanding high advertising revenues.
