Lily Allen Spends $50K Cash on Diamonds in Atlanta

Lily Allen spent $50,000 in cash on diamond jewellery during a shopping spree in Atlanta this week, despite previously revealing she was seeking treatment for a spending addiction. The 40-year-old singer, currently touring the US following the release of her album West End Girl, visited Ice Box jewellers just hours before taking the stage.

In a clip shared by the store on Instagram, Allen paid for her purchases with large bundles of cash carried in her $14,000 Hermès Birkin handbag. Wearing $500 YSL sunglasses, she bought a $15,000 tennis bracelet, $25,000 earrings, and a $20,000 gift for a friend. The salesman said her total was $54,450 with taxes, but accepted $50,000 as that was the amount she had in cash. The store captioned the post: '@lilyallen spends $50,000 cash @icebox on diamonds before her Atlanta show, for the sold out "West End Girl" tour!'

Ongoing Therapy for Spending Addiction

Allen's shopping trip comes months after she revealed she was undergoing therapy for 'shopping like an insane person' to celebrate the success of her album. She has been spending freely, 'convinced she is a billionaire', but disclosed in December that she was receiving treatment for her spending addiction. She said she had been in eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy for four months due to her spending habits. EMDR helps people recover from past experiences affecting mental health, using side-to-side eye movements combined with talk therapy to process negative images, emotions, and beliefs associated with traumatic memories.

Album and Personal Life

The album West End Girl marked Allen's return to music after seven years, recorded in ten days following her split from ex-husband David Harbour in December 2024 after she allegedly discovered his cheating. The lyrics suggest the couple had an open arrangement for discreet sexual encounters with paid strangers, which Harbour reportedly violated. In a recent interview, Allen discussed non-monogamous relationships in the heterosexual community, saying they are 'relatively new' compared to the LGBTQIA+ community, and that the emotional fallout is often not reflected in pop culture. She added, 'There are also people on the other side of it, who don't feel comfortable or feel pulled into something they didn't choose.'

Allen has been sharing updates from her US tour, including visits to a bowling alley, a haul of vapes, and a stay at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood. The album was nominated in three categories at the 2026 BRIT Awards but did not win.
