Lisa Kudrow Abandons Botox Following Uncomfortable Side Effects
Lisa Kudrow, the acclaimed actress, has declared she is likely finished with Botox for good after suffering from an uncomfortable side effect linked to the anti-wrinkle injections. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 62-year-old star revealed that her eyes became inflamed after receiving Botox, leading her to reconsider its use.
Eye Irritation and Forehead Changes Prompt Decision
Kudrow explained that the neurotoxin contributed to eye irritation and a peculiar pattern on her forehead, stating, "I think it contributed to my eye irritation and this weird pattern on my forehead, so I’m probably done with it now anyway." She only began experimenting with Botox around her 60th birthday, but this experience has solidified her resolve to stop.
Fears of Aging and Natural Aging Choices
Despite her decision, Kudrow admitted to being scared of aging, expressing concern about eventually resembling her grandmother. However, she remains excited about taking on older roles in her career. The actress has often been praised for aging naturally, though she has been open about a nose job at age 16, which she described as "life altering" and a positive change from feeling hideous.
Cosmetic Surgery Hesitations in Hollywood
In 2024, on the Armchair Expert podcast, Kudrow discussed her avoidance of further cosmetic surgery, despite its prevalence in Hollywood. She emphasized, "I don't judge anyone for doing it. A lot of people look fantastic, but I also am afraid that if it doesn't heal right [I will] look older and altered." She questioned whether her natural appearance might affect audience experiences, reflecting on societal pressures in the industry.
Promoting The Comeback and Career Updates
Kudrow is currently promoting the third season of her HBO series, The Comeback, set to premiere on March 22. In the cult comedy, she portrays Valerie Cherish, an aging actress desperate for relevance who stars in a sitcom written entirely by AI. The show, which first aired in 2005, was canceled after one season due to low ratings but gained a cult following and critical acclaim, leading to a revival in 2014.
Critical Acclaim and Future Plans
The second season, though a ratings flop, earned Kudrow Emmy and Critics' Choice Award nominations. The upcoming third season has already received rave reviews, and Kudrow confirmed it will be the final installment, regardless of performance. She stated, "The most respectful thing we can do for the audience and for the character is make it a three-part story. It’s a trilogy, and this is the end." Outside The Comeback, Kudrow has recently appeared in The Parenting and Time Bandits, showcasing her diverse acting range.
